Post Monte and NASCAR
I quote this from NYMCC forum"
Well it has been offically announced Chevy will no longer be running the Monte Carlo in Nascar, they have now opted to run the Impala....Some say because it is to put up the 4 door Impala against the 4 Door Camry since Toyota will now be running in Nascar...it really is a small change to the car itself, as the Monte and Impala front ends are very similar, and the cars bare little resemblence to there Nascar counter Parts...Also there have been rumors that the Chevlle maybe making it's return to the streets...with all this it is a hard fact to face but it looks like the Monte Carlo Nameplate will not be around to much longer.....In a related story Dodge has decided to remove the Charger from Nascar and replace it with the upcoming Avenger....Sad days are approaching for Monte Fans...

Joe"

As they say OH WELL

yes.. its true the monte will no longer be in the nascar lineup... there's also whispered rumors that they may be killing the monte carlo off since they have to redesign and setup for the zeta platform at Oshawa.... however w/ concepts for a RWD grandprix.. theres a possibility they may b bringing the monte back in 08 w/ a totally different driveline (aka RWD = :D )......

as for the chevelle rumor... it's true there is a concept already made, however it has not been released to the public ... my dad went in for an interview at the GM tech center and he's seen the concept in person... no word yet on if it will b released.. as far as i know its just speculation and it will stay a concept car until more publicity is gained on the matter

Maybe I keep living in the past, but I'd like to see GM and Ford and Doge all make RWD V8 performance cars for the Average American. OK, Ford has got the Mustang and Dodge has Magnum/Charger and we have the Camaro/Vette, but what about someone that has a Family in mind also. I want a nice sized, V8 LS7 or LS9, RWD Monte 2 Door Sports Coupe. Hey, if BMW can make one and make it well why can't we. My fingers are crossed about the Monte and ZETA platform uniting.

If anything they may just replace the Monte Nameplate with Chevelle....That won't be so bad, as long as they do it right...

Yes, this is sad. Once I seen the Impala SS on the fron of the racecar, I new it wasn't good for the Monte.

Like everyone here, I'll miss the Monte Carlo SS in NASCAR,I won't be changing cars because of it though.
I'll wait a while before I post judgement on how the racing will be and until other Race teams can catch up to Hendrick Motorsports who seem to have figured it out the best lately, So far it's been fairly good in the C.O.T. car. I will be going to N.H.I.S this July and in the Fall where they will be racing so I'll see how they are there live.
Visually there not to much different than the Australian V8 Supercars that I am a fan of as well with that big wing on the back and front spoiler or splitter.
I seen the Impala Pace car with a big wing on the back as well so I am wondering if GM will have that as an option on there new 2008 Impala?
Anyway,Looking forward to the All Star Challenge Race tonight at Lowes Motor Speedway in the old cars under the lights!
I love Night Racin'!
